I can’t decide if reading about AI is like reading an account of the historical events that will eventually lead to the end of life on earth, or if it’s like reading a bad comedy about a bunch of very stupid people who think they are very smart, doing a bunch of bullshit things that don’t matter at all. Maybe reality is somewhere between. AI is a trivial distraction, but it also takes enormous computing power and drains our already taxed planetary system. AI won’t destroy the world; the people building AI might.

Meanwhile, I still don’t know where I’m going to take this newsletter and am still open to suggestions. I’ve paused billing so no more money will go to Substack. I’ve fashioned a harebrained scheme that involves a return to zine making, but until that gets going, I will probably return to just using straightforward email, unless a better solution presents itself.
